CAT6 network cables
Looking for CAT6 cables?
What are CAT6 cables used for?
When people on the Internet are looking for a network cable, the most commonly used search term is CAT6. CAT6 cables are 6th generation twisted pair Ethernet cables. These cables can achieve a throughput of 250 megahertz at transmission rates of 1000mb/s.
On a reel or ready to use?
CAT6 cables are available in bulk, i. e. on a cable reel, and as a ready-to-use cable system. Ready-for-use cables are fitted with wire pairs cast into the connectors. This way, you do not have to mount the connectors on the cables yourself.
Cables on reels are available in 2 versions: stranded and solid. These bulk cables are used to bridge longer cable lengths and to lay wall cabling. These cables are not equipped with connectors. Stranded cables are used if connectors are to be mounted. Note: Shielded CAT6 connectors are required for CAT6 FTP cables.
Solid cables are used for LSA applications such as patch panels, flush-mounted boxes, etc. To connect solid cables to the LSA strips, LSA pliers are required. Note: Solid cables are less suitable for attaching connectors.
Shielded or better not?
CAT6 cables are available in shielded and unshielded versions. If the cable runs over a power and/or COAX cable, it is advisable to choose a shielded cable (FTP/S/FTP). These cables are shielded against interference.
